Reggae singer most well known for his solo albums released throughout the 1980s which gained popularity in and out of dance halls. He is also well recognized as a lead vocalist for the group Black Uhuru which has gained significant popularity throughout Africa.
He first began his singing career in 1973 as a member of the Jamaican reggae trio Black Uhuru. However, a year after the group made it's debut, he decided to embark on his solo career.
In 1988, he released the Christmas track "Jingle Bells" with Glenice Spenser on the album A Reggae Christmas.
He was born Ervin Spencer in the Waterhouse district of Kingston, Jamaica.
Both he and Shabba Ranks are popular Jamaican reggae stars.
