New York-born writer and artist who helped create the Jann of the Jungle character for Marvel Comics. His other famous comic book characters include Lorna the Jungle Girl and Daredevil.
As a young man, he studied wood engraving with acclaimed artist H. J. Glintenkamp.
Although he is best known as a comic book writer and artist, he also published several novels, including Nightmare of Eyes, The Odd World, and Counterspy.
He was born in New York City to a family of Italian immigrants, and he grew up as the oldest of nine children. He died at the age of seventy-two in Los Angeles, California.
Both he and cartoonist Kirk Jarvinen worked for Marvel Comics.
