Iranian writer, journalist, and satirist who is best recognized for writing for the online outlets Gooya and Rooz. He is also known for his daily column sotūn-e panjom which appeared in the Jame'eh newspaper.
He studied Sociology at Shiraz University as well as the University of Tehran. He started his career in politics, working for the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance. He then gained attention as a writer once he started publishing satirical pieces through the magazine Soroush.
He is known for having won the Viareggio Prize for Foreign Journalist in 2010 as well as the Prince Claus Award in 2005.
