Best known as the youngest brother of 37th United States President Richard Nixon, he also had a career as an entrepreneur, founding a Washington state-based company called Nixon World Enterprises, Inc.
He earned bachelor's and master's degrees in geology from, respectively, Duke University and North Carolina State College.
He and Karen Olson co-wrote a 2009 memoir titled The Nixons: A Family Portrait.
He and his brothers Richard, Harold, Arthur, and Donald grew up in Whittier, California, as the children of Hannah and Francis Nixon. He married Gay Lynne Nixon in 1957.
He served as a defense witness in the Watergate trial of Nixon cabinet member Maurice Stans and United States Attorney General John N. Mitchell.
