Before fame
He developed an interest in music at a young age and began learning to play the oud when he was around seven years old. He studied at the Faculty of Music Education in Cairo where he specialized in Arabic music and singing. He gained early recognition after participating in a music competition organized by October magazine in 1988 which helped introduce him to the Egyptian music industry. He released his first single "Dany" in 1989 followed by his debut album Ekminny in 1990. He followed this by releasing albums such as Ada El-Leil in 1995, Yashak Amar in 1997, Sahrany in 1999, Habeeb El Alb in 2000, Homma Kelmetain in 2002, Hobak Alemni in 2005, and Ahla Menhom in 2007. He continued releasing music in the 2020s including singles such as "Leeky Andy" and "Ghaltan" in 2023.
Trivia
He earned a master's degree in music in 1995 and eventually completed a doctorate in Arabic singing in 2002. He has appeared on television shows and film projects including Un parfum nommé Saïd in 2003 and Sister Teresa in 2012.
Family life
He married Nada Rizk and they have twin sons named Ahmed and Mahmoud who were born in 2008, and a daughter named Noreen who was born in 2014.
