Before fame
She began learning chords and improvisation with the help of one of her brothers when she was a child. She studied vocal performance at Northern Arizona University, but during her first semester she suffered a vocal cord hemorrhage and cyst that forced her to stop singing. She chose to serve a mission in northern Sweden for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints after she recovered from her injury, which is where she began writing songs for the first time. She began releasing songs after returning home from her mission including "Hear Him," "Till That Day," "Gotta Have Faith," "Light," and "Flesh and Bone." Her big break came in late 2023 when a reel of her scatting over her song "Breathe" went viral on Instagram.
Trivia
She didn't write her first song until her early 20s. She was discovered on Instagram by Adam Blackstone who invited her to sing with his band at Blue Note Jazz Club in New York City after finding her online. Her jazz scatting style was inspired by musicians like Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong.
