Before fame
His public music career officially kicked off at the young age of 11 in 1998 when he discovered the legendary Paul Green and joined the foundational cast of the original School of Rock.
Trivia
Beyond his indie-rock roots, he toured extensively as an 18-year-old prodigy alongside avant-garde guitar virtuoso Adrian Belew and performed with the famous Frank Zappa tribute act, Project/Object. An unusual piece of mainstream trivia is that he recorded the studio drum tracks for global pop icon Taylor Swift on her vault track release, "You All Over Me".
Family life
He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He comes from an incredibly artistic family; his mother is the author Robin Slick, his father is a talented guitarist, and his sister Julie Slick is an accomplished professional bassist who toured with him early on. He is happily married to his wife, the critically acclaimed indie-pop singer-songwriter Natalie Prass.
