In 2014, she graduated with honors from Crown College of the Bible with a Bachelor's Degree in music ministry.

She gave birth to her son, Carson, in May 2015, between Seasons 1 and 2 of Bringing Up Bates. The 3rd episode of season 2 revolves around her taking care of Carson.

She was born to Gil and Kelly Jo Bates in Tennessee. She married her husband Chad in November 2013. They have a son named Charles Stephen and four daughters named Brooklyn, Everly, Holland, and Finley. In August 2021, she revealed that she was pregnant with her fifth child.
