Composer of numerous songs including Mean to Me, Walkin' My Baby Back Home, and I'll Get By. He was beloved by many recording legends.
He graduated from Fordham Law School, but began working for Irving Aaronson and his Commanders and Fred Waring as an arranger.
He was posthumously inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1970.
He had three sons: Frederick, Arnold, and Richard.
He collaborated with Joe Young, Roy Turk, and Edgar Leslie.
