Roman emperor of the Severan dynasty best known for his brief rule alongside his father, Septimius Severus and older brother, Caracalla. He and his brother became co-emperors after their father's death in 211, and their partnership was widely known for its extreme rivalry and political tension. His reign was ultimately short-lived, ending when he was assassinated at the age of 22.

He was born to parents Septimius Severus and Julia Domna, the latter of whom was an extremely influential imperial woman of the time. Growing up, he often accompanied his family on military campaigns and political tours across the empire.
Trivia
After his assassination, his brother Caracalla ordered a full damnatio memoriae, erasing his name from inscriptions, destroying his portraits, and banning public mourning in what has been recognized as one of the most thorough erasures in Roman history. However, coins and inscriptions from his reign have survived into modern times.

His birth name was Publius Septimius Geta. He was born to emperor Severus and respected political figure Julia Domna. His brother Caracalla was his co-ruler and eventual killer.
