Before fame

He attended the University of Asia and the Pacific where he completed his undergraduate studies in 2001. He began appearing in Filipino films in the late 2000s often in family-oriented and comedy projects. He appeared in Tayong Dalawa in 2009, in Ang Darling Kong Aswang in 2009, in Enteng ng Ina Mo in 2011, and in Si Agimat, si Enteng Kabisote at si Ako in 2012. He was elected to the Quezon City Council as a councilor from the third district in 2010 which was the start of his political career. He was elected as Vice Mayor of Quezon City in 2019 and was re-elected to a second term as vice mayor in 2022.

Family life

His full name is Gian Carlo Gamboa Sotto. He was born and raised in Makati, Philippines. He is the son of Tito Sotto and actress Helen Gamboa. He is the nephew of Vic Sotto. He married Joy Woolbright-Sotto in 2007 whom he met while studying at the University of Asia and the Pacific. He and his wife have six children together.
