Before fame

He was elected to the Quezon City Council as a councilor from the third district in 2010 which was the start of his political career. He was elected as Vice Mayor of Quezon City in 2019 and was re-elected to a second term as vice mayor in 2022.

Family life
His full name is Gian Carlo Gamboa Sotto. He was born and raised in Makati, Philippines. He is the son of Tito Sotto and actress Helen Gamboa. He is the nephew of Vic Sotto. He married Joy Woolbright-Sotto in 2007 whom he met while studying at the University of Asia and the Pacific. He and his wife have six children together.
