Republican politician known for becoming Governor-elect of Virginia after upsetting Terry McAuliffe in a tight election in November 2021. He became the co-CEO of Carlyle Group in 2017.

Before Fame

He attended Norfolk Academy in Virginia before going to Rice University in Houston, Texas. After graduating in 1990 he worked in finance handling mergers and acquisitions for First Boston. In 1994, he joined the management consulting firm McKinsey & Company. In 1995, he joined the The Carlyle Group. 

Trivia

He won the 2021 gubernatorial race running on a platform focused on allowing more parental involvement in children's education. He also ran on pro-life, anti-abortion and anti-vaccine mandates and pro-guns rights. 

Family Life

His father, Ellis, was a basketball player at Duke University and worked in finance. His mother is named Carroll. He is married to Suzanne Youngkin and they have four kids. He is a Christian.
