Best known as the brother of Saturday Night Live comedian Amy Poehler, he had a career in entertainment in his own right, establishing and performing in a European-produced comedy series titled Welcome to Sweden.
After earning a bachelor's degree from Boston College, he received his J.D. from the Fordham University School of Law. He went on to practice intellectual property law in Sweden.
He gave up his law career to work as a stand-up comic.
He and his Swedish attorney wife, Charlotta, became parents to three children.
He costarred with Lena Olin in Welcome to Sweden.
