The first Jewish player to be drafted into the AFL since 1999, he incurred an abundance of anti-semitic harassment online via social media and other platforms following the release of news coverage regarding his expected draft selection. Radio host Neil Mitchell spoke out on this abuse, encouraging the AFL to come down on the hateful comments in circulation. 

Before Fame

He graduated from the independent Modern Orthodox Jewish school Mount Scopus Memorial College in Melbourne, Australia. He commenced his youth career playing with the AJAX Football Club. He later moved to the Sandringham Dragons. He was also a part of the U-18 All-Australian team. He made his professional career debut with the West Coast Eagles in the year 2023.  

Trivia

He completed his 2022 Talent League (or NAB League) season having kicked 36 goals, the most of all players in the league. The following year, he became the recipient of the 2023 AFL Rising Star Award for achieving an exemplary season.

He is the son of Lana and Dean Sheezel. On July 13, 2023, he shared a photo series on his harry_sheezel Instagram account that featured his girlfriend Mischa.
