Singer and musician known as a member of the New York City experimental rock band Swans. Between 1985 and 1996, she worked as a vocalist and keyboardist in the band. She contributed vocals for the band's 2012 album The Seer. She released various experimental solo records, including 1995's Sacrificial Cake and 1998's Anhedoniac.
Before Fame
As a child, she learned to play a Hammond organ and studied opera.
Trivia
She practiced Tibetan Buddhism. In 2015, she released an experimental soundscape album with Veil of Thorns called With Sun Falling. She co-composed the soundtrack of the 2009 horror video game The Path.
Family Life
Her father was a police detective and both he and her mother worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
