American children's writer who won the Laura Ingalls Wilder Award for her work in children's literature in 1986.
She graduated from Wheaton College in 1937 and started her writing career writing short stories for Humpty Dumpty magazine in the 1950s.
She was nominated for the international Hans Christian Andersen Award.
She married Michael Fritz in 1941 and they had two children.
Like her, Ellen Miles also became a celebrated children's book author.
