Poker Hall of Fame player and legendary World Seres of Poker champion popularized the game through his battles with Nick the Greek.
He learned the game of poker from card cheats, which later came in handy as he supervised casino poker games to make sure they were clean.
A (possibly apocryphal) story has it that he and Nick the Greek sat near the entrance of the Horseshoe Casino to attract gamblers, with Nick losing $4 million to Moss over the course of 5 months.
He was born in Marshall, Texas, and grew up in Dallas.
Doyle Brunson, another Texas poker great, won just one more WSOP bracelet than Moss did.
