Rugby fullback and centre who is widely known for his career in the New Zealand Super Rugby league. In September 2016, he signed with the Hurricanes in a two-year deal.
He played collegiate rugby for Lincoln University in New Zealand. In 2016, he made his professional debut for Canterbury during the Mitre 10 Cup, where he led the squad to a championship.
In September 2016, he was included as an apprentice for the New Zealand All Blacks national team for the Autumn Internationals. In June 2017, he was named to the first All Blacks team for the British and Irish Lions Tour.
His three older brothers, Beauden, Scott, and Kane, are all professional rugby players. His father Kevin "Smiley" Barrett was also a professional rugby player. He has four other siblings.
He joined the New Zealand All Blacks rugby squad in June 2017, where he would play with Brodie Retallick.
