Repertoire spanned concertos, solo recitals, and chamber music. He was known as a member of the Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson Trio.
He was first noticed by famed Chilean pianist Claudio Arrau. His training at The Juilliard School was orchestrated by Arrau.
He was named Artistic Advisor for Chamber Music and Artistic Director of the Fortas Chamber Music Concerts by the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in 1997.
His family recognized his talents early on, and he began studying piano with Joshua Shor.
He was a performer at the 1977 inauguration of President Jimmy Carter with violinist Jaime Laredo and cellist Sharon Robinson, which was their first collaboration.
