Mathematician and the first honorary member of the Union of Czechoslovak Mathematicians and Physicists. He was the chairman of Matica Slovenska, a scientific and cultural institution, from 1945 to 1954.
He worked at Charles University and taught mathematics at Czech Technical University.
He published work on differential and integral calculus in the first Slovak mathematics textbook.
He was born into a farming family in Gočovo.
