He is the star and subject of Leo Pfeifer's documentary for The New Yorker, One Day You'll Go Blind. He has amassed over 170,000 followers on his justinthebishop Instagram account. He also hosts a podcast called Childhood Hero in which he interviews guests about who they consider to be their heroes.

Before Fame

He was diagnosed with a degenerative eye disease called retinitis pigmentosa when he was just a child, which caused total vision loss by the time he was in his 20s. Having skated since the age of ten, he refused to give up on his love for the sport and began work as an ABA therapist at Sport-Social, helping children with disabilities learn about sports in a safe environment.

Trivia

He was sponsored by Zappos and Not Impossible Labs to help create the Acoustical Phased Array speaker - an audio tool that helps him map out a skatepark without the use of his vision. It is the first audio prototype for visually impaired skateboarders.
