Before fame

He moved back to New York when he was 13 years old from Jamaica. He started battle rapping when he was 17 years old under the name "Sikk." He eventually changed his name to Klassik and then Klassik Frescobar. He released his early mixtape Sleep When I Die in 2010.

He created the term "soca-hall" to describe his fusion of rap, dancehall, and soca rhythms. He cites Patrice Roberts and Vybz Kartel are being inspirations to his music. His single "Looking Good" went viral in 2020 thanks to the #LookingGoodChallenge and a boost from Cardi B who shared it on her Instagram Story.

Family life

His real name is Kamaal Burrowes. He was in the Bronx, New York and spent much of his childhood in Constant Spring Gardens in Kingston, Jamaica. He was raised by his grandparents and was exposed to nonstop dancehall and soca on the radio. His paternal grandfather Sydney "Foggy" Burrowes was a respected coach and sports administrator
