He studied kinesiology at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, Louisiana.

He worked for several years as a teacher before beginning a career in sales in 2002. He became the Territory Manager for Edmentum in 2012.

He and his wife Anne were married in 1999. They have two children, Kate and Christian.
