Abstract expressionist painter who often disassembled her paintings and re-arranged their pieces into collages.
She attended The Cooper Union and the National Academy of Design and later took classes with Hans Hofmann. She was employed by the WPA Federal Art Project from 1935 until 1943.

She was the wife of the renowned artist Jackson Pollock, but was an important painter in her own right. She was one of only a handful of female artists to be given a retrospective exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art.
