English singer and guitarist whose five-octave vocal range has made her one of the most respected singers in popular British music. Some of her best-known singles include 1972's "Rock-a-Doodle-Doo" and 1975's "It's in His Kiss." The latter of those songs has accumulated over 3 million streams on Spotify. 

Before Fame

She played in the British ska band The Q Set and recorded her first solo single "You Turned My Bitter into Sweet" in 1967.

Trivia

She appeared as a screaming Beatles fan in the 1964 film A Hard Day's Night. She released 10 albums between 1971 and 1999. 

Family Life

She is the oldest of six children. Her ex-husband is guitarist and bassist Jim Cregan.

Associated With

She embarked on a world tour with folk singer Cat Stevens in the '70s.
