Democrat who became a Member of the US House of Representatives from California in 1997. She appeared as herself on Larry King Live and on an episode of The Closer in 2007.

Before Fame

She received her undergraduate degree from Chapman College in Orange in 1982 and her MBA from American University in Washington, DC in 1984 before becoming a financial analyst.

Trivia

She is the first American of Mexican heritage to represent Orange County in Congress and she was among the 133 members of the House who voted against authorizing the invasion of Iraq.

Family Life

She married retired Army Colonel Jack Einwechter in 2011.

In 2006 she withdrew from the Congressional Hispanic Caucus's political action committee because of disagreements with Joe Baca.
