Slovenian-born author who wrote under the pen name of Prezihov Voranc and became known for his Communist activism. His works of social realism include the 1941 novel Doberdob and the 1940 short story collection Samorastniki.
His work was first published in 1909 in a literary journal called Domaci Prijatelj.
He became involved in Communist politics after he spent time in an Italian Prisoner-of-War camp during the World War I years.
He was born in Podgora, Slovenia. He died in Yugoslavia at the age of fifty-six.
He and Janez Jansa were both involved in Slovene politics.
