Actress who became a star through her roles on various Colombian telenovelas, including Café Con Aroma de Mujer. She has also been a presenter on the news show 24 Hours as well as a columnist for Cromos magazine.
She grew up taking ballet classes at the Antonio Maria Valencia Conservatory. She moved to New York City to study English in the mid-80s.
She was named a Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF by the United Nations in 2000.
She is the daughter of musician and actor Gerardo de Francisco and fashion designer Mercedes Baquero. Her brother is television personality Martin de Francisco. She was married to singer Carlos Vives 1988 to 1990.
