American literary agent and Soviet Union Spy who was based in New York City during the 1930s and 1940s and fled to Mexico and Poland in 1950.
He left Germany to immigrate to New York City on the S. S. Pennsylvania with his family in 1907. Afterwards, he lived in the Bronx.
He had three wives throughout his life: Irma Cohen, Sally Tannenbaum, and Minna Zelinka Lieber. He had three children as well.
