Israeli Arab politician and member of the Knesset for Hadash who is known for his cooperation with Jewish members of parliament. He became the Deputy Speaker of the Knesset in 2003 after first being elected to the Knesset in 1999.
He attended Tel Aviv University where he studied Mathematics.
