About

Professional rock climber, Olympian, and medalist known for being the 2021 IFSC Bouldering World Champion and the lead silver medalist the same week, the first U.S. woman to win multiple medals at a single World Championships in more than two decades, for winning the IFSC Boulder World Cup series four straight seasons in a row, and for competing in the Paris 2024 Olympics. She is also known for her World Cup wins.

Before Fame

She started climbing when she was six years old at Pacific Edge in Santa Cruz. She joined the Bay Area's Zero Gravity youth team. her family moved to Boulder, Colorado, so she could train with Robyn Erbesfield-Raboutou's Team ABC in 2015. She broke through internationally as a junior by earning a double silver in bouldering and combined at the 2019 IFSC World Youth Championships in Arco. She dominated domestically by going undefeated in the 2019-20 National Cup and winning the 2020 USA Climbing Bouldering Open National Championship. She made her professional adult debut in 2021.

Trivia

She packs and uses nitrile gloves to avoid softening her skin when applying lotion or washing her hair to keep her hands competition ready. She's the first U.S. woman since 1995to win a world title, thanks  to her Bouldering gold at the 2021 World Championships

Family Life

She is Mexican-American on her mother's side. She has spoken about the pride she has had for being the first Latina to represent Team USA in Olympic climbing.

Associated With

She and Brooke Raboutou have been fellow Team USA Olympians and longtime training partners. She beat Janja Garnbret at the World Cup in 2021.
