Swedish chef who is known for his diverse cooking styles ranging from molecular gastronomy to open flame cooking. He is known for his popular restaurant Ekstedt and for also having his own cooking show Niklas Mat. He shares additional pictures of his cooking to Instagram for his over 50,000 followers.
After training for several years, he opened his first restaurant at the age of 21. At 33, he began to question his style of cooking before having the idea of a restaurant where raw ingredients are cooked over an open fire. He then opened the restaurant Ekstedt, dedicated to cooking before the advent of electricity, in 2011.
He is known for having completed an internship at the Michelin starred restaurant and innovative center of molecular gastronomy El Bulli in Spain.
He grew up in the small village of Järpen, Jämtland, north Sweden and has two sons.
He trained under Ferran Adria at El Bulli in Spain.
