Peruvian goalkeeper who is famous for his international club career, including for Liga MX squad Veracruz. He previously helped lead Peruvian Primera Division club Universidad San Martín to success between 2007-2014, including as runners-up in the 2014 Copa Inca tournament.
He began his youth soccer career in 2000 with Academia Tito Drago's youth academy. He later made his professional debut in 2007 with Universidad San Martín.
He led the Peruvian national team to a third place finish at the 2015 Copa America tournament. He also led Peru to qualification for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
He was originally born and raised in Lima, Peru.
He and Raúl Ruidíaz have played as teammates for the Peruvian national team.
