Peter Turnley

Photographer who is known for photographing current events and people. Most of his photos revolve around Paris, France where he has lived since 1978. On his peterturnley Instagram page, he has 150,000 followers who can see some of his work, the books he has done, and his lifestyle. 

Before Fame

He graduated from the University of Michigan and the Sorbonne of Paris. He first started to photograph his hometown of Indiana in 1972, which led to his interest in photography as a career. He worked for Newsweek magazine from 1984 to 2001. 

Trivia

He has photographed many world conflicts including the Gulf War, the Somali Civil War, and the the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. He was also on the ground photographing the aftermath of September 11, 2001 and Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, Louisiana. 

Family Life

His parents are William and Elizabeth. He has a twin brother named David Carl. He is married to Amy Roth Turnley. 

Associated With

He extensively photographed the Royal family for Newsweek when Princess Diana died in 1997 and her sons, Prince Harry and William, Prince of Wales during the funeral.
