Athlete who rose to fame as a hurdler before finding success in the NFL playing for the San Francisco 49ers. He played in the NFL for three seasons before returning to track and field. During his transition from track to football he appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated Magazine running hurdles in his 49ers uniform.

Before Fame

In 1977 he became "High School Athlete of the Year" for the magazine Track & Field News.


He was once a world record holder in the 110 m hurdles after he completed the race in less than thirteen seconds.

Family Life

He grew up with two younger siblings. He and his wife Gloria welcomed two daughters named Ariel and Samara.

Associated With

He was coached by Bill Walsh on the 49ers during their Super Bowl win in 1982.
