Before Fame

Originally a college football player, an injury ended his future career. This urged him to take up the upright bass and he began performing with the music group .357 Stringband. It was touring with them that he eventually met Parker Schnabel.

Trivia

As a member of .357 Stringband, the group has released three albums: Ghost Town, Fire & Hail, and Lightning From the North.

Family Life

His family had a commercial construction company. This is where he learned to use a great deal of heavy machinery, which would later help him on Gold Rush.

Both he and Todd Hoffman are gold mining reality stars on Discovery's Gold Rush.
