About

Indian former professional footballer best known for playing as a forward for top clubs including East Bengal, Bengaluru FC, Pune City, and RoundGlass Punjab. He represented India's senior national team from 2012-2017, earning 30 caps and scoring 5 goals. Celebrated for his aggressive attacking style, he became one of India's most widely recognized strikers during the rise of the Indian Super League.

Before fame

He started playing both cricket and football at the age of 9 before ultimately choosing football at 13. He trained at St. Stephen's Football Academy and later the Chandigarh Football Academy, competing in major youth tournaments like the Junior Challenge Administrator's Cup and Pre-Subroto Mukerjee Tournament. He made his senior India debut in August 2012 against Maldives in the Nehru Cup.

Trivia

He helped India win the 2015 SAFF Championship and also brought them to victory at the 2012 Nehru Cup, where the team defeated Cameroon B in the final. He also helped India secure the Hero Tri-Nation Series title in 2017.

Family life

He was born to father Captain N.P. Singh, who served 22 years in the merchant navy before starting his own business, and mother Caroline, who is a fashion designer. He was the youngest born of three siblings. He married actress, filmmaker, and entrepreneur Lianne Texeira in a private beach ceremony in Goa on Christmas Eve 2018. They share two sons together named Memphis and Adonis.
