Canadian multimedia and installation artist who created philosophical films and performance art pieces. Most commonly grouped with the Vancouver School.
He studied art with Ian Wallace in Canada, and he also performed in a band with Jeff Wall.
He made himself the protagonist of much of his cinematic work, including in "Halcion Sleep" from 1994 and "Vexation Island" from 1997.
He married fellow artist Shannon Oksanen.
His film, "The Phonokinetoscope," included a character who was a Thomas Edison prototype.
