Famous for her work in the chick lit genre, she is most well known for her Shopaholic books, which were adapted into the popular 2009 film Confessions of a Shopaholic.
After graduating from New College, University of Oxford, she wrote pieces of financial journalism before publishing her successful debut novel The Tennis Party.
Her stand-alone works include The Undomestic Goddess, Twenties Girl, and Can You Keep a Secret?
Born to Patricia and David Townley, she and her younger sisters, Abigail and Gemma, all became writers. Her marriage to Henry Wickham in 1991 resulted in sons named Freddy, Hugo, Rex, and Oscar, and in a daughter named Sybella.
The cinematic adaptation of Kinsella's Shopaholic books stars actress Isla Fisher.
