Professional MMA fighter who competes in the UFC with a background in wrestling. As of 2018, she ranks #9 on the official UFC strawweight ranking.
She graduated from Northview High School in California. In 2011, she was ranked the number one freestyle wrestler in the USA at 121 lb, but suffered a neck injury while training for the 2012 olympics. This revealed a cancerous growth on her thyroid. After recovery, she started practicing Brazilian jjiu-jitsu, which ultimately led her to mixed martial arts.
In 2016 she was a contestant on the 23rd season of The Ultimate Fighter reality TV show.
Her mother is Linda Padilla. She has two brothers, Ricky and Chris, and a sister, Julia.
