Before Fame
She liked art from a young age. She was a curatorial apprentice at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in her senior year of high school in 1983. She attended Smith College and graduated with a BA in Art History and African-American Studies in 1987. She began working at the Studio Museum in Harlem in 1987.
