Luxembourg-born modern artist whose works included paintings, sculptures, and stained-glass windows. His 1975 work on the Church of the Holy Spirit in Cents is particularly admired.
He moved to Paris at age twenty to study art at the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts, the Sorbonne, and the Institut d'art et d'archéologie. He was a student of Paul Klee and Oskar Mool at the Kunstakademie in Düsseldorf, Germany.
He founded an artistic movement called Tactilism.
He was the son of a Niederkorn, Luxembourg, schoolmaster.
He provided illustrations for a book written by the French poet Paul Eluard.
