Jazz clarinetist and bandleader known for his band Band of Tomorrow and for leading the orchestra on several tours with Bob Hope.

Before Fame

He attended the University of Akron. He played in the orchestra of Isham Jones before forming his own band. He formed his band, Band of Tomorrow in 1940. 

Trivia

He was the music director of WOR Radio in the 1950s. His clarinet playing style was inspired by Artie Shaw. 

Family Life

He was born and raised in Akron, Ohio. 

Associated With

Urbie Green was a member of his band in the 1950s. He had Hal Linden do some vocal work for his band.
