Jamaican reggae DJ and singer known for dancehall songs such as "Fresh Vegetable," "Jah Is By My Side," "Sweet Jamaica," and "Vibes of the Time." He is also known as the founder of the annual Jamaican music festival Rebel Salute.

Before fame

He first performed under names such as Papa Tony and Tony Ranking in local talent contests and on sound systems including Sugar Minott's Youth Promotion. His big break came in 1990 when his "Fresh Vegetable" became his first number one song and one of his biggest hits. He signed with Columbia Records in 1992 and released the album Vibes of the Times in 1993.

Trivia

He founded Flames Productions and launched Rebel Salute in 1994 originally as a birthday celebration that eventually became one of Jamaica's major reggae festivals. He was awarded Jamaica's Order of Distinction in 2002 and was commissioned as a justice of the peace in 2013. He received official GRAMMY participation certificates in 2025 for his contributions as a guest artist on two Grammy nominated projects.

Family life

He was born Patrick George Anthony Barrett. He is a father, and his children have worked with Rebel Salute in roles connected to event production, social media, finance, and hosting. His daughter Jayudah Barrett has helped run a lot of the operations for Rebel Salute.
