Former golf star who won 11 PGA Tour events including the 1941 PGA Championship.
He turned pro in 1932 while in his early 20s and had his first victories in 1935, winning the Los Angeles Open, the Calvert Open, and the Maryland Open.
He was selected for the 1939, 1941, and 1943 Ryder Cups, but all three had to be cancelled because of World War II.
