Christian clergyman and peace activist who was the President of SANE/Freeze (now Peace Action), the nation's largest peace and justice group.
As a child, he dreamed of becoming a concert pianist.
He helped build the first training programs for the Peace Corps, and oversaw the construction of the Puerto Rican training camp.
He was married three times. First, with Eva Rubinstein, then with Harriet Gibney, and third, with
George Whipple also attended Yale University.
