Slovak defender who, at 6'9", became the tallest player to ever play in the NHL. He won the Norris Trophy for the league's top defender in 2009 and helped the Boston Bruins win a Stanley Cup Championship in 2011.
He played in the American Hockey League and Western Hockey League before making his NHL debut with the New York Islanders in 1997.
He was selected for his first NHL All-Star game in 2003 and, in 2012, he was named captain of one of the All-Star teams.
He married Tatiana Biskupicova in 2007. The couple had a daughter named Elliz in 2009 and twin boys in 2016.
He shared a Stanley Cup victory in 2011 with Playoff MVP Tim Thomas.
