Egyptian singer who became the first Arab singer to perform at the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony in November 2006. He's known for songs such as "Tigi Tigi," "Kalam Bi Kalam," and "Efred."
He was influenced by Sha'bi singer at an early age and began performing at parties and events with his band at the age of 14.
He graduated with a degree in communications from the University of El Azhar in Cairo in 1983.
His father was the mayor of Maghagha.
