Colombian politician who has risen to fame as a Patriotic Union representative in the Colombian Senate. In 2014, she was a vice presidential candidate as part of the Alternative Democratic Pole and Patriotic Union alliance in Colombia.
She graduated with her dual bachelor's degree in pedagogy and psychology from the National University of Colombia.
She served in the Bogotá City Council between 1992-1996. She survived a bazooka attack on her vehicle in 1996.
She was born and raised in Sogamoso, Brazil.
She ran against Juan Manuel Santos during the 2014 Colombian presidential elections.
