About

Soccer player best known for breaking the record for most appearances on the El Salvador national football team in 2013. Shortly thereafter, he made headlines when El Salvador's football federation imposed a lifetime ban upon him and 14 other members of the country's national team for match-fixing, after being accused of accepting bribes in matches such as their defeat over Mexico in 2011 and a loss against Paraguay the following year. On December 27, 2015, he was murdered at a gas station in his hometown of Santa Ana, El Salvador.  

Before Fame

He launched his career by playing for Club Deportivo Futbolistas Asociados Santanecos. In 2001, he earned the opportunity to play in the Salvadoran Primera División and later that same year, he made his professional debut in a league match against Club Deportivo Municipal Limeño. His international career debut came in 2000, when he joined El Salvador's U-20 national team and participated in the 2003 CONCACAF U-20 Tournament. 

Trivia

He was part of the Salvadoran U-23 team which, after defeating Mexico, became the winner of the gold medal at the Central American and Caribbean Games. He became the most capped Salvadoran player of all-time in 2003, after having received 86 caps for the men's national team. 

Family Life

He was married to wife Elizabeth de Pacheco, with whom he had two children named Alexia and Marco. 

Associated With

He was one of 15 players to be banned for life from professional soccer by El Salvador's Football Federation in 2013, along with teammates Dennis Alas and Ramón Sánchez.
